Seasonal Administrative Assistant

Woodie Wheaton Land Trust was founded in 1994 and is located in Forest City, Maine. The Trust aspires to protect forever, significant tracts of land and shorelines, so that local residents and visitors to the Chiputneticook Lakes region of Maine and New Brunswick can experience something rare and remarkable; a bounty of unspoiled natural values.

Job Overview

Provide administrative, communications, and public relations support to the WWLT Executive Director in order to advance the Trust’s long-term goals and short-term priorities.  This position does not include housing, so applicants must reside in the region.  With the ongoing global pandemic, the viability of this position is subject to change.

Qualifications

  • Administrative office management experience required
  • Strong computer skills
  • Above-average writing skills for press releases, newspaper articles, and newsletters
  • Experience in maintaining websites and other digital outreach
  • Organized and detail-oriented

Proposed Compensation

  • 32-40 hours per week, depending on work load
  • June – August, start/end dates negotiable
  • $12/hr. commensurate with skills and experience

Responsibilities & Duties

Maintain Office Operations

  • Assist walk-in visitors
  • Check mail, answer phone, and manage general email
  • Distribute outreach material by mail or in-person as needed
  • Organize bulletin board and brochure rack and restock as needed
  • Order office supplies
  • Keep office clean and inviting

Maintain Data Entry & Record Keeping

  • Enter data to track project labor, expense, and grant deliverables
  • Maintain adequate records and prepare various reports for the Executive Director

Support Board Activities

  • Send out meeting information in a timely manner
  • Maintain board business files

Assist with Events & Programs

Coordinate Communications & Public Relations Activities

  • Write and submit press releases
  • Assist with writing articles and putting together the bi-annual newsletters
  • Keep WWLT Facebook and Instagram pages updated with news, events, and other important information
  • Post information to the WWLT website, as needed
