Together we have accomplished great things!

Adding to our successes along Spednic Lake and other local waters, the Woodie Wheaton Land Trust efforts to conserve major portions of the undeveloped shore lands in Maine along East Grand, Brackett, Deering,Longley Sucker, and North Lakes have resulted in an outright acquisition of this landscape by The Conservation Fund.  We are pleased to have initiated this effort and to have worked diligently over the past two years with The Conservation Fund on the East Grand Watershed Initiative, a project that conserved over 12,000 acres and 30 plus miles of undeveloped shoreline.

You are invited to become a member of the Woodie Wheaton Land Trust, especially if you share our affection for the lakes country of eastern Maine and western New Brunswick and have a strong commitment to the conservation of wild and natural areas. Membership is awarded to folks who make any contribution, large or small, and who agree with our mission to conserve the lands and waters of the Chiputneticook Lakes region. All contributions are tax-deductible. We don't bother members for annual fees, but will ask member's help when we have a project on the table. Please join us.

Based in Forest City, Maine between East Grand Lake and Spednic Lake on the international boundary between Maine and New Brunswick, the Woodie Wheaton Land Trust has initiated and overseen the conservation and protection of more than a hundred miles of unspoiled shoreline in the Chiputneticook Lakes region. During the last seventeen years, we protected the natural character of many pristine islands and special places for the enjoyment of the public and we continue to develop a growing conservation ethic in our area. Our achievements are remarkable for such a small group, whose energy has come from local guides and others determined to save these unique values from the encroachment of development. Our financial support has largely come from sportsmen and sportswomen and conservationists such as YOU...we are more than 520 members strong...who understand the challenge of protecting this wild landscape.
