Based in Forest City, Maine between East Grand Lake and Spednic Lake on the international boundary between Maine and New Brunswick, the Woodie Wheaton Land Trust has initiated and overseen the conservation and protection of more than a hundred miles of unspoiled shoreline in the Chiputneticook Lakes region. During the last seventeen years, we protected the natural character of many pristine islands and special places for the enjoyment of the public and we continue to develop a growing conservation ethic in our area. Our achievements are remarkable for such a small group, whose energy has come from local guides and others determined to save these unique values from the encroachment of development. Our financial support has largely come from sportsmen and sportswomen and conservationists such as YOU...we are more than 520 members strong...who understand the challenge of protecting this wild landscape.
